Description

HF1R0x is Hexabitz Raspberry Pi interface module. It interfaces seamlessly to Raspberry Pi 3B/4B single-board computers and enables you to connect and control your favorite Hexabitz modules from the Raspberry Pi operating system and build your own Raspberry Pi Hat. This is the world’s first build-your-own-Pi-Hat system!

  • Connect all Hexabitz modules to Raspberry Pi 3B/3B+/4B in horizontal and vertical configurations using Raspberry Pi UART serial interface.
  • Small form-factor with options to connect Hexabitz modules all-around the interface and power the modules from Raspberry Pi on-board 3.3V supply.
  • Ultimate freedom in designing the functionality and shape of your own Raspberry Pi Hat according to your needs.
  • Can be combined with Hexabitz M2/M2.5/M3/M4 Mounting Hole modules (H00R1) to build a rigid and well-supported Hat.
  • Control and communicate multiple Hexabitz modules at the same time by defining an array via our Explore functionality.
  • Use our C++ Hexabitz Interface library on Raspbian, Ubuntu or other compatible Linux distributions from within your C++ or Python applications.
  • HF1R0x interface module follows Raspberry Pi Hat specifications (to the extent possible) and comes with embedded EEPROM programmed with Hat identifiers and related information. The module can be automatically identified and setup when the Linux system boots up.

Specifications

Front-end

  • Physically and electrically compatible with Raspberry Pi 3B, 3B+, 4B (1 GB), 4B (2 GB) and 4B (4 GB).
  • ON Semiconductors CAT24C32WI-GT3 32-Kb I2C EEPROM
    • Write-protection (WP) jumper to program the EEPROM from the Raspberry Pi.
  • Raspberry Pi GPIO interface: Sullins Connector Solutions PPTC202LFBN-RC or compatible 40-pin, dual-row (2×20), through hole header connector with 0.100″ (2.54 mm) pitch. Short (3.20 mm) and long (12 mm) contact length connectors are available.
  • 2 x M2 mounting holes (2.75 mm diameter) compatible with Raspberry Pi Hat specifications.

Back-end

  • Six Hexabitz-compatible array ports and 14 power ports (+3.3V and GND).
  • P2 connects to Raspberry Pi serial port (RXD0, TXD0). You can select which side of the interface connects to the Raspberry Pi serial port using jumpers.
  • Array ports P1, P3, P4, P5 and P6 are physically connected to their opposite ports across the interface, so that modules soldered on both sides of the interface can directly connect to each other.
  • Module 3.3V supplied from Raspberry Pi on-board 3.3V power supply.
